 The Fairy Fort
In the western corner of the property is an ancient fairy fort, a tree-ringed, raised mound which was used as a shelter for domestic animals in Neolithic times. The fort is surrounded with wild brambles to keep out wild animals (not too many of those these days) with a wonderful grassed area within. The space inside is so peaceful, with views of the lake and a neighbouring ruined cottage. A mass path runs back towards the small village of Druminscart.

The Gate Lodges
There are two gate lodges, one at each entrance to the property. Both have been renovated in recent years, restored sensitively back to their former glory. The lodge at the main entrance lies just inside the stone archway at the start of the lakeside drive to the house.
The back lodge was originally just three rooms and home to a family of 14 in the 1920s! Now extended considerably, the lodge sits within the beech woodland with views of the lake through the trees.

 The Beech Woodland
Over thirty acres of woodland for you to roam! There are some very tall trees present - most over two hundred years old with stout trunks and majestic boughs spreading out providing a wide canopy. In summer when the trees in full leaf, the space under the canopy is awash with ivy. Suckers grow around the perimeter making a nature marquee for the woodland walker. In autumn, the mushrooms come up, with over ten different types found in recent years - but beware the toadstools!
